I love trying out new mediums and art making tools and ever since TEMU launched I’ve been testing out their vendors products, they can be hit or miss, but I’m gonna share some items that I have personally bought and tested.
The old saying goes, ‘ you get what you pay for ‘ – this is true for TEMU as well. But in saying that, there are some real bargains to be found with decent quality.

Oil Paints

These are great for general studio work, where you need to cover a lot of area, the Lamp Black is great for mixing cool greys ( paynes grey ), I use these in combination with gamblin colors and mediums. They are better then your dollar store oil paints.
Acrylic Brush Markers
Acrylic brush markers are great for works on paper / sketchbook, I was able to paint a illumination with these on both white and black paper.
TIP: Make sure you get the brush version, the pen / hard tip version don’t contain as much paint and you won’t get much coverage with them. ( great for detail drawings tho )

Both of these are bright & opaque brush markers and work great on black paper, highly recommend to have around the studio.
For shading the cheaper ones bellow are less opaque more transparent

AVOID THESE BELOW, they are only good for very fine detail line work & not really suitable for artists & have terrible coverage. Plus I don’t think they are great value.
ALCOHOL MARKERS
These are OK, very transparent, good for sketching and layering over line work, not water based so they won’t buckle the paper. I do feel they are slightly too pricey for what they are. you can use them to shade over the acrylic brushes, dries quickly.

CHARCOAL STICKS
These are great value charcoal sticks for sketching, quality is fairly consistent and packaged safely in a tube. they are pretty hardy, doesnt snap easily.

Charcoal Pencils
Good value charcoal pencils, shades nicely, I use these alot. They don’t rub out easily though, so I recommend normal lead pencils for the under drawing.

Colored Charcoal Pencils
Highly Recommended, I just got these and they are super great for loose drawing / sketching. Nice set of different values & colors for separating objects when sketching ideas, does erase easily and they blend nicely together for color mixing to my surprise.

This particular vendors sales good quality brushes for the price, if you are on a budget I would check them our, avoid the other super cheap packs you will see from other vendors.

These have nice long handles and last a while, once the tips are frayed you can cut them down and use them for soft edge blending brushes as they are pretty soft. super great value.

Great Value! Not sure if they are REAL sable, but they are great for holding a lot of paint for long expressive strokes, give them a wash first in water to remove stray hairs , they are very soft , so not for blending.

Excellent durable hard hogs hair brushes that hold their shape, the picture shows a twelve pack, you will only get 6 from the larger size down. I do wish they sold the smaller ones. its a little pricey for hogs hair, but they are decent quality.
FRAMES
Frames are hit and miss from TEMU, I would stay away from most of them, HOWEVER the only consistently great frames I have bought from TEMU are from these guys. High quality and extremely great value.
The frames are great, the bundled canvas is average ( you need to gesso them ), and they include fixings for hanging. Highly Recommend. The only issue I have is they don’t offer sizes larger then A3.
I use ACM panel in them and save the canvas for sketching. They are made of plastic, but the paint on them is very strong and won’t scratch off easily. They don’t look cheap.

TIPS & Tricks when shopping TEMU
There are a few tricks when shopping with TEMU I found
Damaged items – Everytime something has been damaged they have given me a full refund and not asked for the item back, I always take a photo to send. Use the AI support chatbot. 10/10
Price Adjustment – After making a purchase you have 30 days to request a price adjustment, if the price is lower they will give you a credit for the difference, this is legit and I always get a few dollars back, you can check how much you get before confirming, so its worth trying a few times.
Claim Credit Hack – If you search for ‘claim credit’ you can get up to $50 credit back on orders over $60, this is not a scam, I’ve used this for most of my orders.
The trick is to add the items you want to your cart before doing it, this way it will be easier to find them during the process.
The only drawback is you have to go back everyday to claim the credit over 7 days. ( each time you do you have to sit through the stupid pop up animation ). Its free money, you just have to sit through the ads. Also refunds work with items purchased through this, so if an item is damaged they will give you the full amount refunded as credit.
$10 for $60 worth of items is a pretty darn good deal + free delivery
If you are using a PC browser, it won’t work, BUT if you switch to inspect mode and use a mobile device emulation it thinks you are on the app and it should work.
AVOID COUPONS – These are pretty scammy, I avoid them.
Free gifts – these do work, but not worth it. They only offer cheap items and you gotta buy 7+ items to get 2 free gifts. Stick with the claim credit hack, you get to choose items you actually want.
conclusion
I’ll update this page with more finds as I try them, the thing with TEMU is don’t set your expectations high, don’t buy things over $50 unless you have done research first and compare them with places like AMAZON.
